For over twenty years I've been providing my corporate clients with a marketing edge by bringing them products and concepts so intriguing, so compelling, so fresh and new that they are ahead of their time. Often, it’s not until much later when the world catches up, that my clients wonder how I do, what I do –how I keep them, ahead of the trend and true leaders of the pack.
What’s my secret? Well, I’m not psychic and I don’t have a crystal ball. However, what I do have is a “good eye.” I am always out at antique and trade shows, museums, flea markets touching and feeling fabrics, paper, textiles, talking to consumers, vendors and artists from both the center and on the fringe of design. I also keep my finger on the pulse of any number of cultural fronts, as well as print and media for inspiration. When I come across that which is truly remarkable– be it a product, a place, a person or the beckoning signs of an emerging trend, a light goes on: there is an ‘aha’ moment when I just know.
Case in point: several years ago while antiquing in Brimfield I came across a couple lugging a huge burlap bag containing a cache of bracelets made from old typewriter keys. Intrigued, I purchased one for myself… and the rest, as they say… is history. People stopped me on NYC buses and in movie theater lines wanting to know where I got that bracelet. I sold hundreds of those bracelets to antique dealers and museums–even some right off my arm!
So with the advent of blogging I am happily able to share my wonderful finds with the world at large. My blog is a showcase of the trends, products, people and places that I come across that inspire, enlighten and intrigue me and hope will do the same for you.
